National I Believe Day

Thanks to Dancing Mermaid for giving me inspiration...

I believe that coffee and tea both have their place in my life and I don't have to choose one over the other.
I believe in my own power.
I believe that I can do ANYTHING.
I believe that a smile can change your entire day.
I believe that for all the good thoughts I think about you, you are thinking them too.
I believe that little girls are full of magic.
I believe that living an artful life is an art.
I believe in being a warrior.
I believe in surrounding yourself with books.
I believe in laughing until you cry as often as you possibly can.
I believe in saying 'thank you" and looking the person in the eye.
I believe in loving deeply.
I believe in surrender.
I believe in optimism.
I believe in tiny mittens.
I believe in snow flakes.

What do you believe????

Shine

driving
the sun filters through the trees
peers into my eyes
WAKE UP
the treads laying
down the music
of the morning (we are)
the miracle of now
there is absolutely nothing
but this moment
where we start fresh
the slate blank
the paper fresh
the world
ready to be inked with
our intention
soles of the feet kissing
the earth
our arms ready to wrap
each
other up

shining among the ordinary

Still life with crumbs

For E & H. as always. And for W who didn't get to hear what's really going on.

"Stilllife with crumbs"

Lunch time
the scene is set
with what has
been laid haphazardly
at our dining table

your name
spelled 4 ways
a mug
filled
with dandelions, thistle and lavender
from our garden
crumpled
paper napkins
and
a bracelet, beaded by you
proclaiming
the word "love"

and the love
is all around
as we sit
grinning at each other
through crumbs

How you gonna win when you ain't right within? - Lauryn Hill

1. My thoughts on LH are mixed but this line just spoke to me. so. no matter.
2. Satellite radio is AMAZING and takes me back to all these gems!
3. While I am not aiming to "win" I just can't help myself. See #1.

The rest of this song is really of no consequence, sage advice or earth shattering moment. But this. "ain't right within". love. there are the days where everything is out there for you to hold, touch, taste, see, smell, you are the miracle to behold it. but there is no beholding if the "within" "ain't right". it starts here. inside. the miracle of myself.

I keep singing it over and over..how can the world be what you want of it, how you accept the world as it is, until you see the acceptance within first...

Just. the single fist pump to LH. for writing the truth.

Say yes to your life

I am reading this incredible book and thu are first part is about INTENSITY, saying yes to your life.

I'm saying yes to...

Accepting the voices that say, "you are true, you are lovable, you are in my heart".
The perfection of this moment, crumbs everywhere, laundry never done, my mascara smeared, my heart swelling with the smallest observation of life.
Being a deep- feeler, seeing it the way others don't or don't say.
Taking another risk, accepting the failures, the do-overs, the only marginally good, the unrealized perfect moment.
The girl who doesn't take enough credit, tries to find serenity in the silence, and calm in the chaos.

If I say yes, then the whole world can't say no.

What I did today

- Brought them both into out bed and snuggled (or climbed)
- Lost my patience before 8am
- Bought more coffee
- Gave up worrying for some else and was happy for those that are celebrating
- Spent the morning talking about art with my 3 yr old
- Let my Dad make me a grilled cheese (i'm 35)
- Danced in my car
- Asked, what's wrong? Let's talk about it
- Breathed in (calm), Breathed out (smile)
- Borrowed a book
- Ate some almonds
- Let them both sleep
- Decided the "hide" function is miraculous
- Also convinced that Fergie is better off with BEP
- Got excited to see my oldest friend
- Heard the poetry in my heart
- Teared up as I surveyed the place we were married

It's been a good day....

the depths

courage is saying the thing you want to say
when no one else can say it
saying it in a way
no one else
can
BEING the person
you are
without conforming to the word
pattern of others
of living
out loud
vulnerabilities on the table
laid out
for all to see
the courage
in the details of your mess
bringing others closer
by displaying
what might not be tidy
inside

gratitude

and when you thought
there was nothing more
to give
and that you were all
alone
that life
was dealing you a
bad hand
you
were rescued
and life hands you
another opportunity
to remember
the teacher
is ever
present

7 years - it was never said better

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

30 days

of poetry
of connection
of writing down the raw
of putting it to paper
of letting go
of letting it sink in
of wielding the words

30 days...just the beginning.

My bookshelf

Lately I have been struggling with finding contentment in the everyday since being at home with my 2 lovelies.  My nightstand continually seems to be growing with Self help!  inspiration!  brain growth!  inner peace!  and then I weed out the pile of books, magazines, articles and start all over.  collecting until we get to overload, rinse and repeat.  I KNOW I am looking for what I am missing in all of these texts...to just be and enjoy being.  I'll continue to read all of you dear literature (maybe not in the right order) but I'll also be coming here...to find the poetry that runs through me and the thoughts that I clam my own...
